Royal Oak, Michigan is one of many suburbs surrounding the metropolis of Detroit, Michigan. Although neither the largest or the smallest suburban area, Royal Oak is the 18th largest city in the state, and offers many things to residents and visitors alike. The area was incorporated as a town in the late nineteenth century, and features many historic buildings and monuments.

Royal Oak is considered to be one of the trendiest areas in Michigan, as there are many shopping malls, boutiques, shops, restaurants, and other brand name stores where people can find the things they crave. There are many entertainment options in Royal Oak as well, from cultural exhibits to theatrical events. The city has also been labeled “Tree City USA” due to a high level of dedication to reforesting the area each year. The large zoo in Royal Oak is also a popular attraction for those moving to or visiting the city.

The famous have not neglected Royal Oak, Michigan, with a popular record company (Psychopathic Records), a famous sitcom (Home Improvement), and two major movies set or filmed in the area (Gran Torino and Prayers for Bobby). Many actors, actresses, sports/radio figures, authors, and other business professionals also call the area home, in addition to tens of thousands of average Joes.
